Biscuits, Anyone?!

So, I decided to try to make biscuits! The first batch that I made ended up quite flat... but biscuit-making-try-number-two produced some yummy fluffy biscuits!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Just a quick post of my daddy and me on Father's Day! Happy Father's Day, Dad! I love you!

Tiebreaker, anyone?

Our Life Group had a fun-filled game night... guys vs. girls! The first game we played was Taboo, which the girls definitely dominated! Next we played Mad Gab Multi-Media edition, at which the guys totally rocked (however, I must mention that the girls had one less person, and unbeknownst to us, there was an easier side to the mad-gab cards)! It was a fun-filled night! This week's activity... pool party!

Shaun and Laura
The guys after their mad-gab victory!
The girls after our mad-gab defeat...

The Taboo score card! Go girls!

Guys lost = Kevin!  Girls Won = Jeannette!

Mice, Mice, Baby!

Okay, so I'm not gonna lie... our dog is like a child to us!  We recently got her a beanie baby mouse that she is learning to love! She already has fifty million toys, but I couldn't resist this one.  It has a squeaker and it makes a crinkly noise when she bites it!  Here are some photos of Sugar and the mouse!

And... while I am at it.... I might as well post my latest dinner creation.  We had grilled pork chops and an easy macaroni & cheese that includes cauliflower (and it's reduced fat)!
And yummy chocolate mini-cakes while we watched the Bachelorette! (Go Roberto and Kirk!)
One last picture... Sugar is always at my side or feet while I am on the computer (as I type this she's at my feet asleep)! Here's a picture of her sleeping beside the computer in the papusan chair while I work on a post for the blog.  She's such a sweet doggie!

That's How the Lost Get Found...

I was reminded at church on Sunday (Thanks, Pastor Jesse!) how God has rescued me! It's just like God to search and search for that which is lost so that it can be restored (lost coin, lost sheep, lost (prodigal) son).  Pastor Jesse at Christ Church (Fairgrove) spoke of Jim Elliot who gave life his all and lost it, so that others might know Christ... just like his Savior did... and that's how the lost get found! I'm reminded of a Jim Elliot quote that grabbed my attention over 11 years ago.  I noticed it the first time I visited Bryan College hanging on the wall in the Lion's Den.  Jim Elliot says, "He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."  There's a song by Britt Nicole called "The Lost Get Found."

The lyrics to the chorus say:

Don't let your lights go down
Don't let your fire burn out
'cause somewhere, somebody needs a reason to believe
Why don't you rise up now?
Don't be afraid to stand out
That's how the lost get found
The lost get found

We are the hands and feet of Christ... and because Christ has rescued us... we can reach out and help rescue others... and that my friends, is exactly how the lost get found!

Date Night!

This week our date night was a trip to our favorite Asian restaurant... Wild Wok! For those of you who don't know, this was the restaurant we went to on our first date! Not only is it one of our favorites for that reason, but it also is quite delicious! We have a date night each week, and we usually rotate picking the location.  We both love Wild Wok so it was an easy choice!
(Notice Adrian's spiffy outfit I picked out for him the other night when we went shopping!)

My Poker Face....

Here are a few fun pictures from Wednesday night!

I made a yummy supper - chicken enchilladas and fresh corn salsa!

Adrian discovered during our Life Group at church on Wednesday, that putting on my sunglasses and singing "Poker Face" made everyone laugh... so he decided to re-enact it at home... for Sugar and me.

And of course, the night wouldn't be complete without a torture Sugar moment!
Our life is never boring!

I love to cook, and I cannot lie...

So one of the things I enjoy most about being home during the summer is getting to cook! Monday night I tried out a new recipe... Italian Pasta Bake! It was delicious and definitely a recipe we will make again! If you're interested in the recipe, just email me! It's...as Rachel Ray says...YUMM-O!

Makenzie Turns 2!

May 28th was Baby Mak's 2nd Birthday! Her party was the place to be! Pictured below is the birthday kid... notice her expression. It's the "Aunt Kelly, why are you taking so many pictures of me" expression.
Despite the strange face, Mak loved her Dora cake! She had told Adrian and me several weeks earlier she wanted a Jo-Jo cake (we couldn't figure out what in the world she was talking about, and neither could her mom), so I guess Dora ended up being ok! :) She shared with many of us (check out the picture of her sharing with me on the first post) Here's a picture of the guests' cake! Makenzie got her own cake which she enjoyed picking off the icing (especially Dora's eyes and hair).
Ok! So the kid loved the balloons! Next time, I'm getting her balloons for her birthday! She managed to pop atleast 6 of them and kept coming back for more!
Makenzie - The next soccer super star... following in the footsteps of her cousins, Taylor and Jordan! It took her a while to figure out that the ball goes into the net. I think she successfully wore the goal as a hat on her head!
Makenzie, thanks for bringing us so much joy! Happy 2nd birthday! We can't wait for the 3rd!

Summa Time!

So glad that SUMMA (summer) time is here! Oh how I love the joys of being an educator and having the summer off... sleeping in late... hanging out with the husband and the pup... actually cooking dinner... shopping... what more could I ask for? Here are some random pictures from the past few months... hopefully I will have some fun stuff to add to this blog over the Summer! :)

Random pictures:
1) Adrian was torturing our cute dog, Sugar, by placing her in the bath tub (her least favorite place) and taking pictures of her. She was a good sport with her photo shoot. There were a zillion bath tub pictures, but I picked two of my favorites!
2) The 2 dozen roses my husband brought to me at work! :) Good job, hubby!
3) 8th Grade Trip to Charleston, SC (Fort Sumter pictured here)!

4) Sugar trying to take a nap and keep me company while I worked on an end-of-the-year school project.
5) Makenzie (my niece) sharing her 2nd birthday cake (aka Dora's finger-dug-out icing eyes) with me. Happy Birthday, Kid!

More pictures to come of Makenzie's 2nd birthday party! And that's all for now... peace.
